The Georgia General Assembly is considering legislation that could make it easier for hospitals and out-patient centers to remove physicians from leading the anesthesia care you receive during surgery.

This legislation would allow medical facilities to give you nurse-only anesthesia during surgery. This is bad health policy. The best anesthesia care is when physicians and nurses work together to take care during surgery.

SB 460 would allow nurses to work independently of physicians in Georgia’s rural hospitals. Rural Georgians deserve quality physician-led anesthesia care just like their friends in the big cities.

Lt. Governor Burt Jones controls the State Senate. He can stop bad legislation. He can stop bills that remove physician oversight in anesthesia care.

Tell Lt. Governor Jones you want physician-led anesthesia care. Tell him to stop any legislation that would remove physician oversight in anesthesia care. Tell him you want the best anesthesia care where doctors and nurses work together to keep you safe during surgery.
